Long Eaton sits between Derby and Nottingham, which means from Derby we are a short run east along the A52 and not much of a detour from anywhere.
Why the drive is worth it
Not because the cars are different. Because the overheads are. A small forecourt with one person on it does not have a showroom, a coffee machine and a sales floor to pay for, and on a car at three or four thousand pounds that difference is a real proportion of the price rather than a rounding error.

Buying at the budget end without getting caught
Under five thousand pounds, condition matters more than specification and history matters more than mileage. A car with eighty thousand miles and a folder of invoices is a safer buy than the same car with forty thousand and nothing. Ask for the MOT history on any car you look at, anywhere, and read the advisories rather than the passes. That is where a car tells you what it is about to need.
